At Blossom Festival, your wellbeing matters. Volunteering at a festival can be fun and fulfilling but also tiring, emotionally intense, and sometimes overwhelming. We’re committed to creating a culture where looking after your mental health is just as important as showing up for your shift.
WE’RE ALL HUMAN
Whether you’re full of energy or feeling low, you’re not alone. Festival environments can amplify emotions – both the highs and the lows. We want you to feel safe, supported, and respected at all times.
MENTAL HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS
Mental health is a high priority at Blossom Festival. We welcome and value participation from people of all walks of life, including those who may be managing mental health challenges.
At the same time, it’s important to acknowledge that we are a relatively small organisation, and our on-site support resources are limited. We are not equipped to provide specialised or intensive mental health care services. Because of this, we strongly encourage anyone currently living with a serious or complex mental health condition to speak with their health care provider prior to the event, and to create a personal mental health management plan tailored to the festival environment.
If you are working with a practitioner, we recommend discussing:
– Whether a festival setting is appropriate for you at this time,
– What support strategies you may need, and
– Any emergency response plans that may be relevant.
With your consent, we encourage you to share this plan with our Volunteer Management team. This will help us ensure that we can support you appropriately and make sure volunteering is a positive and sustainable experience for you.
Being open with us allows us to care for you in a meaningful way. Everything shared will be treated respectfully and confidentially, in accordance with our privacy policies.
MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING FOR VOLUNTEERS
🔄 Balance is Key
– Rest is not a reward, it’s essential. Take your breaks. Get enough sleep. Eat real food.
– Say something early. If you’re starting to feel overwhelmed, please speak to your team leader or the Volunteer HQ crew.
– You’re allowed to step back. If you need a breather, we’ll do our best to support you.
💬 Who to Talk To
– Our Volunteer HQ team is trained to support volunteers and can link you with wellbeing services onsite.
– We also have a Chill Space at Ranger HQ where you can take time out in a calm, low-stimulation environment.
❤️ Consent, Kindness & Care
We expect all volunteers to treat each other with respect and empathy. Emotional safety is just as important as physical safety. Please look out for each other and speak up if something doesn’t feel right.
🛑 In Case of a Mental Health Crisis
If you or someone else is experiencing a serious mental health issue:
– Notify Volunteer HQ or a team leader immediately.
– Our First Aid and Wellbeing teams are equipped to help.
– All support will be confidential and non-judgemental.
